Let’s all be on the same page with basic rules
At Identity Jiu-Jitsu, we strive to foster a positive and supportive culture for all martial arts enthusiasts. Our aim is to create an environment that promotes physical and mental preparedness, and encourages growth through practicing with trusted peers. In order to maintain this culture, we kindly ask that all students, family guests, and visitors adhere to the following etiquette guidelines:
Respect Yourself
Focus on improving your weaknesses during training and avoid solely relying on your "A Game".
Always bring a clean and dry gi to each class, and wear a compression top underneath.
Keep your finger and toenails short and clean to prevent injury to yourself and others.
Respect Your Training Partners
Train seriously and with enough intensity for both you and your partner to improve your skills, conditioning, and motivation.
Avoid physically or emotionally harming others during training, including cranking submissions or making hurtful jokes.
Give higher-ranked belts priority when rolling and prioritize safety for yourself and your partners.
Keep your feet clean and wear shoes or sandals when outside of the training area.
Respect Your Instructors
Actively listen to your instructors during class and avoid distracting others with talking.
Sit, stand, or kneel respectfully during instruction to engage your brain's active learning receptors.
Stay focused on the drill unless instructed otherwise and remain on the mat during class unless given permission to leave.
Keep your cell phone off or in the locker room during class.
By following these guidelines, we can all contribute to a respectful and supportive community at Identity Jiu-Jitsu.
